At 30, I had a university degree, a successful sales and marketing career, a charming husband, a sweet baby son... and this little voice that kept gnawing at me... 'this isn't it'.
Something was missing. That's where yoga entered my life. Eleven years, a move to Kelowna and one baby girl later, I am a healthier, happier, kinder, brighter and more grateful human.
E-RYT200 ~ Registered Yoga Alliance Teacher
My initial training and study began in the Ashtanga and Iyengar traditions with highly regarded international teachers, Nicki Doane and Eddie Modestini of Maya Yoga, HI. With over 1,500 hours at the top of the mat, I am now designated as an 'Experienced' yoga teacher through Yoga Alliance. I am also certified in Yoga Nidra for stress release and deep relaxation.
In the past 18 months, I have focused my studies in trauma informed teaching to support the needs of students who are navigating the difficult paths associated with trauma, mental illness and addiction.
My promise: As your teacher, I will safely guide you through the postures with precise attention to alignment; I will challenge you to go deeper - and I'm not just talking about stretching your hamstrings. Yoga is a practice of attention. If you give me yours, I will do my best to guide you towards a deeper understanding of the most important person in your life. And the rest... well, that's up to you. Some would say I have a 'quirky' sense of humour. I will probably say stuff in class that you wouldn't expect to hear from a 'yoga teacher'. I tell stories and really great jokes that I will expect you to laugh at. I say 'shit'. A lot.
I deeply respect this practice. I'm so passionate about yoga and the teachings. It has changed my life.
And it can change yours too.
I'm not perfect, far from it, but like you, just doing the very best I can.
I want to be a better human.
Do good shit.
(shit, I said shit).
